SURRY HILLS Real Estate For RECENT SALES

SURRY HILLS is known for its shopping and dining options and is favoured by the city's creative scene.

Major Joseph Foveaux received the first land grant of SURRY HILLS in the 1790's. His farm was known as SURRY HILLS Farm after Surrey Hills in Surrey, England. Foveaux Street is named in his honour.

Terrace houses and workers cottages were built in SURRY HILLS from the 1850's. Light industry became established in the area, particularly the rag trade. SURRY HILLS was favoured by newly arrived families after World War II when property values were low.

The 1980's saw the beginning of the gentrification of SURRY HILLS with many of the older houses being restored and many new upper middle class residents enjoying inner city living.

SURRY HILLS shows streets filled with Victorian terraces along side high rise apartments and modern warehouse conversions.

Crown Street is perhaps the epicentre of SURRY HILLS with countless restaurants, cafes, bars and boutiques as well as SURRY HILLS Markets on the first Saturday of every month.

Walk to Central train station for public transport to all corners of Sydney.
